My wonderful "first" born daughter is everything you would expect from a textbook first born child. Those whole 9 minutes before her brother showed up was apparently significant in her attitude towards birth order personality.
Being only 10 months old I can only read so much into her personality, but she certainly acts more "first born" then her brother does. She is very driven to do everything and accomplish all she can. She wants her way and will protest if she isn't able to do something. She wants to be independent, but also wants to please you. She also tends to be very dramatic. She will scream her head off (not crying screaming, just screaming) to get your attention if you are looking the other way. She will be playing fine in the living room (not even with you) and then melt down the second you walk into the kitchen (mind you, you can walk in and out of the hallway as much as you want, but the kitchen is apparently not an OK place to be). She is also super picky about some things. She can have 3 or 4 different kinds of finger food on her mat, and she will first eat anything dark in color, then anything green, and then anything crunchy, and leave whatever doesn't fit into those categories.
So with the passionate little girl of mine, you can imagine how she is taking to teething. She just got her first tooth a few weeks ago, and a second tooth followed last week. Unfortunately, all her teeth seem like they want to be coming in at the same time. My poor little girl has about 4 teeth that are all pushing to the surface at the same time right now. Her gums are super swollen and you can see the teeth about to pop through. I am just praying it happens quickly and SOON! As badly as I feel for her, and as painful as it must be, I also feel slightly bad for us and our neighbors within a 2 block radius who can also imagine what is going on from all the screaming. She will be playing just fine and all of a sudden bite down on something wrong and start screaming. Poor baby.
Here is a little look at the babes teething scrapbook pages:
