The Kids are Calling Me Out!

Hello, Tuesday Hop friends! Welcome! I can't wait to follow you back!

********

I swear, I was an AWESOME mother before I had children!

I spent 6 years raising other people's children, and was pretty darn good at it. I brought professional nanny-ing to a whole new level.

I thought I would have mothering in the bag!

Then came twins...

DSC_1255

For the most part, they are grade A babies, and I have very little to complain about.

DSC_1280

They are great sleepers (6pm-8:30/9am and then a 2-2.5 hour nap)!

DSC_1289

They are generally very well behaved.

But recently.... they have started to whine.

The whining.

DSC_1278

Oh dear! I have never been a fan of the whiney kids you see out and about.

DSC_1286

Now I am afraid my kids are turning into the whiney kids that frighten other people into never wanting children.

DSC_1264

HELP! How do I stop the whining before it gets too bad? How can I teach 17 month old children that whining is not OK?

I am afraid... I am very, very afraid!

19 friendly things to say:

  1. When you find out, let me know! I tend to just ignore Emma until she uses real words, and not just whiney noises. I just walk away from her fits (when I'm at home, it's a little harder when we're out and about)

  2. It could be just part of the age they are. I could be wrong though...lol. All my children are grown so I just have my grankids to spoil. My kids say I make excuses for EVERYTHING my grandkids do. I don't really, it's just I remember when my kids were little and they done the same exact thing.
    Enjoying your blog!

  3. I SO clicked on your blog because of your name! lol However, over a decade in directing several daycares and three boys (9,10 & 11) has me totally agreeing with Funny Family--ignore it. But the SECOND they stop--seriously pounce with smiles and "is THAT what you wanted?!" and hugs and all. Reinforcement is everything.

  7. Hi,

I have 1 year old twins. Right now the only time their whining is when their tired. Any other whining we ignore once there safe. Good Luck.

  8. Hello! I'm a new follower:) All I have to say is I thought I'd be a pro at being a mommy - with being a kinder teacher for 10 years. Now that I have 3 kids under 4, I have found I'm probably a better teacher:) As for the whining - they all go through the whine stage at some point. Just ignore it until they speak without the irritating tone in their voice. Good luck!!
